a measure of atmospheric pressure equal to 1,000 dynes per square centimeter. Standard atmospheric pressure at sea level is about 1,013 millibars or 14.69 pounds per square inch. Thirty-four millibars are about equal to one inch of mercury. Abbr: mb.
